Preparing Your Vehicle for the Winter Months

Is it essential to prepare a car, boat, bike, or aircraft for the winter months? Yes, it is!
As the seasons change and we move towards the winter months, it is essential to ensure your car, boat, bike, or aircraft is appropriately cleaned, corrected, and protected. This is particularly important if the vehicle is used less frequently during this period. E-Valence has a wide range of products designed specifically for this purpose. Correct application of E-Valence products will assist in extending the longevity of the respective part and the vehicle as a whole. A couple of hours of work can make a big difference in the long run, regardless of whether or not the vehicle is used in winter or stored.

A couple of essential points.
Don’t forget the carpet. Often overlooked, the carpet is a depositary of soil, sand, grit and countless undesirables. E-Valence Carpet Cleaner with Antimicrobial UV Stable is the perfect product for undertaking this process. It also contains a UV inhibiter, so reapplying at the beginning of summer is definitely a must.
Don’t forget the interior glass. Often forgotten, the internal glass always responds well to a good clean. And isn’t it great to be able to see where you are going? With the added benefit of containing an antimicrobial, E-Valence Glass Cleaner will kill bacteria and provide protection in the future. And, with an antifogging agent, it significantly assists those of us with older cars.
While talking glass, top up your screen washer bottle with water, and don’t forget to add 100ML of E-Valence Glass Cleaner.
Should I clean, correct and protect the paint?
Yes, you should!
Regardless of the condition of the paint, make a value judgement and act accordingly. This can be a long process if you have been busy and have put off your maintenance, so the sooner you step up and complete the exercise, the better. E-Valence Correction Products
E-Valence Ultra-Fine Polish – for removing the finest of scratches.
E-Valence Intermediate Polish – for removing medium scratches. This is a multi-level, one-step polish and is the ultimate in polishing precession.
E-Valence Metal Polish – for removing all fine scratches on chrome, brass, silver, copper and stainless steel. With silver, test the surface first.
E-Valence Perspex Polish – for removing light scratches and yellowing in plastic windows and Perspex covers.

Should I clean and correct my chrome and metal?
Most definitely!
Metal, especially chrome, left in damp areas during winter, may be exposed to contaminant damage. The most common is dust mites, which, if not removed, eat into the chrome, causing scarring. Ultimately, this scaring can only be removed by having the item re-chromed. If you already have this type of damage, please call or email us, and we will assist you in arresting the damage. Clean down with E-Valence Chrome and Metal Polish.
Correct with E-Valence Metal Polish.
Protect with E-Valence Preeminent 50% Carnauba Wax or E-Valence APD.
Finally, when working with Chrome, it’s a good idea to make up some cleaning probes to assist in the process. Refer to the photo below.

How often should I polish the lights?

Regularly!
In winter rain and darker conditions, it is essential that your night and day vision is as clear as it can be. E-Valence Intermediate Polish and E-Valence Perspex Polish are ideal for polishing light lenses, whether glass or perspex.
Should I regularly clean and recondition the door seals and other rubber components?
Yes, all rubber components deteriorate over time. Often undetected until it’s too late. A three-month reconditioning routine is the best way to ensure the longevity of these components. Don’t forget the scuttle under the windscreen. Please read our post on rejuvenating rubber by clicking here.
